phoenix canariensis requires frost free conditions all year round, with a minimum temperature of 10c (50f). It is best grown in containers using a soil based compost such as john innes no. 3. Position in full light with shelter from hot sun. Containers may be moved to a sunny patio during the summer months and returned to warm, frost free conditions in september. Alternatively, plant directly into greenhouse border soil for a more permanent display.
