Flowering from july to september, agapanthus 'fire-works’ is a finalist in the rhs chelsea flower show and recent winner of best new plant at hta national plant show! This plant is easy to maintain which produces gorgeous two-tone flowers that won't fade in colour. This perfect variety is also tougher than any other agapanthus variety with its evergreen foliage that can withstand winter temperatures of -10c and will keep coming back year after year! In their first year, your agapanthus plants will need protection from winter frosts. Grow agapanthus plants in rich fertile, well drained soil, in a sunny position. When growing agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as john innes no.3 .feed and water african lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter.
