Marshalls garden runner bean 'tenderstar' is a british-bred, high-yield variety producing smooth, fleshy, stringless pods up to 20 cm (8 in) long. The pods are exceptionally tender and flavoursome—sweet enough to eat raw—and the plant bears attractive red-and-pink bicolour flowers on a vigorous climber. Tenderstar is virtually self-setting, so it crops prolifically and can be grown in isolation. Supplied as 12 garden-ready plugs; prefers full sun and well-drained soil and is pollinator-friendly.
