Polemonium 'stairway to heaven' is a low-growing perennial with pale blue bell-shaped flowers in spring and attractive variegated cream and green foliage that can show pink tinges in cool conditions. Suited to part-shade but tolerant of full sun, it pairs well with ferns and hostas, needs well-drained or acidic soil and reaches about 50cm tall. Ideal for borders, pots, cottage and wildlife gardens, it is hardy, low-maintenance and pollinator-friendly.
