Plum 'czar' is an early-fruiting culinary plum that yields large, juicy purple-black fruits from early august, ideal for cooking, jams or eating fresh. Self-fertile and awarded the rhs award of garden merit, this hardy tree has attractive white spring blossoms and some frost resistance. Grafted onto st julian a rootstock for a manageable mature height of about 4m (13ft), it typically fruits 2–4 years after planting and is supplied as a 1-year bare-root specimen. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil, pollinator-friendly, suitable for smaller gardens.
