Dwarf patio crab apple malus 'red sentinel' with masses of pale pink spring flowers and dark red fruits that often persist into winter, attracting birds and bees. Grown on m9 dwarfing rootstock, habit kept compact for containers and small gardens, reaching about 200–250 cm without routine pruning. Suitable for pots and patios, prefers full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Pruning: remove dead or diseased wood in winter, cut back current season's growth by a quarter to an outward-facing bud, and optionally remove the central leader to encourage side shoots and reduce height.
