Magnolia 'leonard messel' — vigorous small tree or large shrub with a compact rounded habit, ideal for small gardens. Best in moist, well-drained neutral to acidic soil, tolerates partial sun, and is hardy. Awarded the royal horticultural society's award of garden merit, pollinator-friendly and low-maintenance.
