Three bare-root currant bushes from marshalls garden: blackcurrant 'ebony', whitecurrant 'blanka' and redcurrant 'rovada'. Suitable for containers or raised beds, these hardy perennials are pollinator-friendly and make an effective windbreak. Ebony is flavoursome and easy to pick, blanka crops heavily with transparent ivory berries ideal with sparkling wine, and rovada can yield up to 9kg (20lb) in its lifetime. Plant about 1.2m (4ft) apart in well-drained soil and full sun; expect good crops from the second year and productive bushes for at least 10 years. Perfect for pies, jams, jellies, wine-making or fresh eating.
