Fragrant sweet italian basil plant ideal for italian dishes and homemade pesto, easy to grow in summer - perfect for containers, window boxes or raised beds. Grows to about 12 inches (30cm), prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and supplied as a 1 x 1l plant. Prune above the second set of leaves to encourage branching, trim branches back when they have 6 to 8 leaves, and pinch out the centre shoot after about six weeks to delay flowering; remove any flowers that appear. Harvest before cold weather or frost to protect the plant.
