Traditional, cottage garden favourite dianthus barbatus is a joyful mix of bushy, evergreen foliage, and eye-catching, richly perfumed flowers. Emerging in may-june, densely packed, clusters of small, bright blooms are held on strong, upright stems, remaining until late summer. Colours are a mixture of whites, pinks, plums, and scarlets, often with bicolour markings for added impact alongside their sweet, spicy scent. ‘sweet william’ make excellent cut flowers, lasting for several weeks in water. Pick regularly, or deadhead, to prolong flowering.prefer moist, well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil in full sun. H&s: 60cm x 40cm. Fully hardy. Supplied in bunches of 10.
