Blooms will continue to be produced right through into october, as if to co-ordinate their warming hues with both the summer sun and then, later, the changing leaves. Excellent as cut flowers, helenium 'ruby tuesday' will thrive in containers and borders and is excellent for adding height to low borders. Furthermore, pollinators love this summer bloom for the feast of nectar it provides. Helenium 'ruby tuesday' is a hardy, herbaceous perennial which prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun and grows to a height and spread of 1m. Deadhead plants frequently for a continuation of blooms and then, toward the end of the season, leave spent flowers so that seedheads can add extra winter interest. Cut back in spring, ready for the new foliage to emerge.
