Such a show-off, clematis taiga is a much-loved climber, the result of exciting japanese breeding and launched at the chelsea flower show 2017. Violet-purple petals with contrasting lime-green tips create huge blousy blooms. Once fully open the palm-size blooms, almost cover the climbing foliage from may to october. Clematis taiga is wonderful planted in a pot or a border, ready to climb over walls, fences, up an obelisk or trellis. Clematis taiga prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade with the base in shade. Classified as pruning group 3, making this an easy to grow climber and good for beginners. Reaching a height in maturity of around 2.5m, taiga is a fully hardy perennial, signifying taiga will flourish outside all year round for many years; no winter protection required.
