Longue' bears its salmon-pink flowers with yellow speckled throats for a staggering six months of the year. Though exotic-looking, alstroemeria is far hardier than it looks and will thrive easily in most uk gardens. It is notable for an exceptionally long lifespan, providing decades of bright, bold, summer-long colour in return for very little attention. The ultimate low maintenance perennial! We love seeing 'longue' in a hot border along with cannas, tagetes and helianthemum, or woven through a busy cottage garden scheme as a rich, colourful 'filler'.
