Akebia quinata ‘rosea’ is an unusual climber that produces beautiful clusters of delicate, very fragrant pink flowers in spring. The blooms are an inverted cup shape made up of three waxy-looking petals held in clusters along the stem, both male and female flowers are produced on the same plant, each releasing an intoxicating chocolaty- vanilla scent, followed by fruits when two plants are present. A semi-evergreen, self-twinning climber with interesting delicate foliage made up of 5 medium green leaflets creating an exotic feel that also takes on an autumnal reddish hue.
