Cyperus alternifolius is a grass species native to the tropical swamps from africa. The plant was formerly used by the ancient egyptians to make a form of paper of, which made the decorative grass known worldwide. Nowadays, the cyperus is used as decoration in houses or gardens. However, the plant can still be found around the world at rivers or swamps. The cyperus grows rapidly, but while growing it might suffocate the other plants around. Don’t worry though, this won’t be the case in a living room or garden. The cyperus is a beautiful grass species which is also easy to take care of!

Carethe cyperus comes naturally from a tropical swamp. With this origin in mind you should also take care of the plant. Keep the cyperus as wet as possible without completely submerging the soil, because it prefers not to stand with its stems completely in the water. The desired temperature for the cyperus is important: the plant prefers a temperature above 15 degrees. If you have the cyperus outside, for example on the banks of a pond, you should bring it inside during the winter. Furthermore, the cyperus needs a lot of light, even in full sunlight it survives just fine. Finally, the plant is non-toxic to pets and humans! Just be aware that cats may be tempted to play with the plant, which can cause the rather fragile stems to break.

Sizethe plants have a height of 40-50cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 14cm.
