Clematis montana morning yellow is a delightful clematis which produces young flowers in hues of primrose-yellow which mature to crisp white. The flowers are semi-doubles and are in their pomp in may and june. This is a floriferous variety, with the many flowers offset beautifully by the dark green foliage. Montana varieties are rightly famed for their ease of growth and vigour. 'morning yellow' can be trained up vertical structures such as a wall, obelisk, fence, and pergolas, or be left to scramble through shrubs. Prefers to be grown in sun or part shade, planted in moist, fertile well-drained soil - ensure the soil does not become too wet, nor too dry. Reaches a mature un-pruned height of 8m and a spread of 3m. This is a pruning group 1 clematis which means prune to environment after flowering.
