Cerinthe major ‘purpurascens’ produces silver tinted, blue-green foliage and glorious, purple hanging bells which look ready to chime. the common name, honeywort, actually came about because bees go absolutely crazy for these wonderfully exotic hued blooms. A fantastic choice for those wanting to fill any gaps in their ornamental borders and enjoy some flowers for a vase or bouquet too. The hanging bells are captivating in a vase, providing endless summer displays for your home. An amazing half-hardy annual, from which you can collect seed year after year. For best results, we recommend planting cerinthe major ‘purpurascens’ in a site which benefits from well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Position in full sun and plants will reach a height and spread of up to 60cm.
