Sow any time of year, ideally february to july: use 8cm pots of firm, pre-watered compost, cover thinly with compost or vermiculite and cover with cling film at around 15°c until seedlings emerge. Keep on a sunny windowsill, water regularly to keep compost damp but not wet, then acclimatise and plant out in late spring; use containers of at least 20cm diameter if not planting in the ground. Harvest tips regularly, remove flowers, and water in the morning to avoid overnight dampness. Plants reach about 25cm and prefer full sun and well-drained soil.
