Thriving in moist but well drained soil, keep the roots cool and shades using low-growing plants or a layer of pebbles. Prune in early spring, remove dead or weak stems and trim to keep in shape, deadhead throughout the season. Clematis ‘guernsey cream’ is an exceptional variety; its large blooms can reach 12-15cm across creating a dramatic display.
