This beautiful allium cameleon is a member of the ornamental onion family with a trick up its sleeve. Throughout the life of the flowers the petals change colour. These spherical blooms are a beautiful pink with deeper pink veins when they first appear. As they age they fade to white but retain the pink veins. The effect is particularly beautiful when clumps of plants are planted together and the flowers open at slightly different times. This allium creates a striking focal point and is suitable for containers or herbaceous borders. It would make a perfect plant for the front of a border as it is one of the shorter ornamental onions. Cameleon bulbs can be planted in september-november for june blooms in well-drained soil. The aspect should be sheltered from strong winds but can be in full sun. The cut flowers will last up to 2 weeks in a vase.
